Frequently asked questions

What sorts of documents do you translate?

We primarily translate documents relating to intellectual property, such as patents in a wide variety of technical fields, patent litigation documents and reports, prior art (such as textbook excerpts and journal articles), trade mark certificates and evidence relating to trade mark disputes, and extracts from commercial registers.

We also translate personal documents such as passports, birth certificates, diplomas, police good conduct certificates and travel authorisation letters.

What languages do you translate?

Our in-house team translates from French, German, Spanish and Portuguese into English. Through our wide network of experienced and specialised freelance translators, we also offer translations in a wide variety of additional world language combinations, for example English into French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

How do you ensure that your translations are of a high quality?

Documents are translated by specialised translators who are native speakers in the target language and are experienced in the relevant technical field. The translation is then subject to a two-stage proofreading procedure, followed by a final quality control check, to ensure consistency and accuracy to the highest degree. Please see our Translation Process for more details.

How much will it cost?

The standard rate for each language combination includes translation of your document by a qualified translator with specialist knowledge of the source language and subject area, proofreading of the translation by a second qualified translator and delivery of the double-checked translation to you by your specified deadline. Extremely urgent translations may be subject to an urgency charge, but this will always be negotiated with you in advance. Quotations are provided free of charge. Please contact us for a list of our rates.

I need a translation urgently - how quickly can you complete it?

If you need a translation completed urgently, we may be able to help. Please send us your document and specify your deadline. We will look at your document as a matter of urgency and respond as quickly as possible during working hours. We understand that with urgent translations you need to know very quickly whether the translation will be possible, so we will not delay in replying.
